Let's inject a little dose of reality into the discussion, shall we? 50% of our electricity comes from coal-fired power plants. There are 600 coal plants in the country. This is a total SWAG, but I'll guess that those plants represent $500 billion or more in infrastructure. Replacing those plants with some other technology would cost on the order of a trillion dollars or more, and that's a conservative estimate.
The issue is not really about what fuel we should be using. We use coal and will continue to use coal for years to come. The issue is how best to deal with the fuel that we are using. Coal seems stupid compared to NG; superficially at least. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;207172674;29440083;f Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:270709 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5
