Again, this is a national statistic, so yes, your personal power generation
may be provided by something else, but across the country, 50% of the
electricity Americans use everyday comes from coal. That doesn't mean it has
to be that way, it means it is that way.

Could we one day power everything with some other technology like wind,
solar, nuclear, or something that hasn't even been invented yet? Sure. But
that doesn't help us in the next 30-50 years during which time we will still
rely heavily on coal for electricity.
