Wal-mart's definitely draw in a large cross section of people. Even more so
with the recent inflation. If you go at the right time, you can see some
weird stuff.

I shop there at least once a week. On the way to work, I will stop in and
buy non-perishables like cereal, drinks, chips, paper towels, etc. It's
nice to shop there at 8:00 AM because the lines are not long. I usually
miss all the entertaining people watching, though I do scrutinize the
employees.

If you are interested in Wal-mart, try reading The Wal-mart Effect. It was
a good book talking about how Wal-mart works, how it effects the economy
(both micro and macro), how it treats employees, how it has effected the
environment, how it has effected manufacturing, etc. The author does a good
job trying to stay unbiased. Towards the end, he leans towards the
anti-Wal-mart side, but not significantly. In the end, Wal-mart's slogan
"Always low prices" is a mantra. They believe it and do everything to live
up to the ideal. It's not just a slogan.
