My answer was more along the lines of refusing to be a victim, but it
is true that the first school I attended in the US was a college. I do
think that there are some terrible terrible schools out there, though
-- had an opportunity to explore the abysses as a parent.

But it is my turn to say that this is a flip answer that gets us
nowhere. What do you suggest? Let's forget for a minute that nobody
who is in a position to fix schools is listening -- how would you go
about this?
