Americans brand this thinking, and this social awareness that is found in countries such as Canada, Britain, France, West Germany etc. as Socialist thinking. Socialist Thinking is akin to Communism, which is Evil. Therefore Socialist countries are Evil.
Since most other developed countries in Europe have systems, laws and methods that take care of everyone in their population, they are all Evil and the United States is the only Good and is far far better than they are (although every single human life and living index says otherwise). The majority of Americans believe that the United States was founded on individualism and self reliance. Ergo no one should pay to help anyone else because they can't cut it, they should just die. America is the land of milk and honey and if you aren't rich and doing well in America its because you are lazy or stupid, and either way you should die and leave the Good Land to those that Deserve it. I've spoken with other Americans that call themselves Patriots, that know the US Constitution, that know a lot about the Civil War and they think this way. It shocked me, but it is what it is.There are many people that think like Robert. In my view those that think like you , Judah, are not a voting majority.I think perhaps you need to ask yourself if they aren't perfectly right. That may not be the America you would like to live in, but just look at your unregulated Capitalist system which has failed and caused so much suffering around the world. That capitalist system was built and based on unmitigated Greed and Individualism. There were no ethics built into the system, it was just make as much as you could any way you can within the law, or the law's loopholes. To hell with everyone else. Your Healthcare system is the same. Those that can pay, great. Those that can't...well too bad.The bottom line of that healthcare system is to make money for corporations-Greed. So again, it may not be the America you would like to live in,maybe it might have been the way America was planned. The actual systems that exist in America, though, tells me that people like Robert are right, and people like you Judah may be more at home somewhere in Europe. 2008/10/16 Judah McAuley <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > Yes. It seems just. Its called a social compact. People with popular > opinions don't need protection of free speech as much as people with > unpopular opinions.
