OK .. no sappy stories tonight .. I'm just pissed!

So I get my shiney new system and it's rockin'. Running Win 2k Advanced Server with a
whole bunch of goodies installed. I'm playing Jedi Knight II at 1024x768 with
everything on high .. nice and fast. I have a few minor issues with the video card
drivers, but no big deal. I work on getting the driver situation taken care of. I'm
in the middle of a shutting down windows for a reboot to apply a new driver install
for the video card when I notice my temp guage for my CPU jump up at least 8 degress F
in less than 2 seconds, right before the temp guage gets shut down by Windows. I
can't stop the reboot at this point. Computer screen blanks at the end of the
shutdown as normal. System starts the POST ... a single beep, floppy light lights up
and stays lit, CDROM light lights up and
stays lit, monitor switches to "no video input", and the system hangs. I look at the
back of the case and I have 4 red LEDs on my MB status indicator. Look that up in the
user manual ..... Processor failure, SON .. OF .. A .. MOTHER FUDRUCKER ......
DAMNIT!!!!!!!!!

Now I'm back on a backup system running an AMD K6-2 300Mghz processor with 256 megs of
plain SDRAM, that I had 2 1/2 years ago, trying to set up NAT again so my roomate will
have access to the Internet tomorrow.

It's really sad that my 2 1/2 year old system has outlasted everything since then.
Unfortunately, It has been stripped of everything but the basics.

So much for relaxing with JK II on the first night I have had a chance to really play
since I got my new system in. I'm so dissapointed .. and annoyed. Damn computers ..
talk about a love/hate relationship.

I've lost 2 in less than 2 weeks. Why God .. Why?????????? How much suffering can
one man take?

I don't even have any muffins to make it all better :(

Todd
