That would be sad to call that logic.

How about logic that says that students are more likely to have unpaid
parking tickets (which was specifically mentioned in the letter as
something the cops would be looking for) because they tend to be going
to places with less available parking (like, say a college or
apartment) than the number of people going to them and they are less
likely to pay outstanding tickets on time owing to having a smaller
income than average.

So if the population of students (regardless of political inclination)
are more likely to have unpaid tickets and they are more likely to
vote for Obama it would then follow that decreasing the turnout of
that population (regardless of political inclination) would help
McCain more than Obama.
