In 2000, Florida did a purge of supposed felons from the voter roles.
Problem is, they also purged people with names similar to felons.

Most of us have written database queries. Would you really want voter
roles purges using this as the criteria?

delete * from voteroll where name like ('suspected felon')

Yet, that is what they did.

The current match/no match system is not much better.

You fill out a voter registration form and send it in, but you've
moved since the last time you got your driver's license and haven't
updated your address with DMV. The county clerk runs your voter
registration against the DMV database - the records don't match - your
registration gets kicked out. So you go to the DMV to correct your
address and renew your license and are told you're not an American
citizen - this is exactly what happened to my son.

Not the way to run an election.
