But that's the point. I'm reading more and more generalized negative comments about 'our' children. 'our' future. This is a jump from "the kids made the right choice in electing Obama". I'm sure many under 21 would read some of these comments and have the opinion that "oh, it's just those old folks thinking they're better than us again"
If we want the kids to not be dumbfucks or whatever, its our jobs to set good examples and teach/show them what's right and what's wrong. There is a single sentence from an issue of Badger from a number of years ago that sticks in my mind. The character Ham (a Druid) was offered a large sum of money to ruin America's harvests. He asked Badger for advice and Badger said "you don't shit where you sleep". And the Badger is insane. Watching people throw trash on the street or on subway tracks always brings that to mind. Adults, not just kids. but not all adults and not all kids. It irks me to no end when I see adults sneak onto the back of a bus. What does it show the kids? That it's right? And adults jumping line, pushing people aside? We don't need national service for kids, we need it for stupid people too. We need it for people who don't show responsibility for themselves, their environment or for others. And we need to recognize those who have responsibilities and fulfill them without not penalize them for having those responsibilities.
