When I worked as a medic in inner cities and even spent some time working as a tactical medic with SWAT teams, I was shot at more times than I care to remember.
Maybe my thoughts on gun control would be different if I or someone I knew was hit during those episodes, but I doubt it. I used to feel the same way about assault rifles and I heard an argument that I really could not rebut. 'The bad guys don't care about gun control and what is legal or illegal. If they can get assault rifles, either legally or illegally, I want to be able to get one to 'even the fight' ' For me, its hard to argue with that logic. It would be difficult to defend yourself effectively with a handgun or shotgun when the bad guys may have assault rifles. I like Chris Rock's proposla...make all guns legal, but bullets cost $500 each.
