Banning guns is a bad idea. Just look at Mexico. Guns are illegal in Mexico,
yet there have been over 3,000 murders in Mexico this year alone over the
drug trade, and most of those murders were committed with guns. If there is
a profitable illegal trade, the people involved in it will get guns,
grenades, explosives, and whatever else they can get their hands on to
protect their trade.

The challenge with military technology beyond guns and cannons is that none
of it existed when the Constitution was written, so it is largely up to us
to set the rules. I would argue that WMDs, ballistic missiles, SAMs,
indirect fire weapons, heavy armor (tanks, etc), military helicopters and
jets are automatically out. But we already have rules in place banning those
things.

The real argument is around the edges- what about semi-auto pistols? Clearly
legal, so says the Supreme Court. What about semi-auto rifles (understanding
that they can be converted into fullly automatic weapons)? I say make them
legal but impose registration requirements on them. See Adam's post about
the mini-gun.
