Note that these are things that are being discussed to rebuild the Republican party. * Get rid of the RINOs. There are a lot of democrats that have taken the R label because they know that's how they'll win the election. * Realign the party leadership from the "moderate/liberal" group that lost us the election (aka McCain) to a group that isn't willing to trade party values for political points. * Bring the Republican party into the 21st century... not just in platform but in image maintenance and online presence. When I look at the debate images and candidate line-ups I can't help but be reminded of the Kennedy/Nixon debate of 1960 (http://www.museum.tv/archives/etv/K/htmlK/kennedy-nixon/kennedy-nixon.htm). There are actually something like 7 types of conservatives: http://usconservatives.about.com/od/typesofconservatives/What_Kind_of_Conservative_Are_You.htm What *I* would like to see happen: * Line item veto. * Lowering of legislative salaries and staff sizes. * Cut aid to foreign countries who support terrorist groups. * Cut subsidies to companies that do not have at least 60% of their workforce based in the US. * Provide funding for all forms of stem cell research, not just embryonic*. * Rebuild the Immigration system to allow more people that want to be in the country legally to be here. Make the path to citizenship more streamlined. * Reverse the convictions of any border patrol or police personnel who were charged while properly executing their duties. * At the state and local levels - Provide assistance for faith-based organizations that are providing public assistance (food & clothing banks, disaster recovery, etc). * At the state level - Repeal laws and court rulings that allow for a child (someone under the age of 18 according to current standards) to have an abortion without notifying the parents. * At the state level - Cut subsidies for organizations that provide or promote abortion. * At the state level - Rebuild the welfare and other social assistance programs to train and equip participants to find and keep self-sustaining jobs rather than create families three generations deep that are dependent on the system. Oh, sorry, you wanted a few bullet points. I've cut it short (there's more that I could go on about) but I'm sure you've got enough ammo now. Regarding the stem-cell research, I'll paste this in from a friend of mine who's wife is going through cancer treatment: "A bone Marrow transplant is the process of regenerating a person bone marrow after damage. In Kerri's case is will be after a high dose of Chemo therapy to hopefully put the Myeloma in remission. In the 'old days' bone marrow was surgically removed from a bone and reinserted after the chemotherapy. Today they can use Kerri's own stem cells in a process called 'Harvesting' which are them reintroduced after her Chemo Therapy. The reintroduced stem cells will have no rejection because they are her own. The high dose Chemo Therapy aside from reducing the cancer will also wipe out her entire immune system and bone marrow. The stem cells will re-graft to regenerate her entire immune system and bone marrow. During the time that the stem cells are re-grafting she will need to stay at Roswell Park. Even after words she will be VERY prone to infection for some time." These are adult stem cells they're using, not embryonic.
