If Obama was supporting someone who was advocating that his followers
kill Christians, that is a story no doubt. If Obama is somehow related
to a person through family but not action or support, then there is no
story. As to why Odinga would claim that Obama was his cousin, I think
the obvious answer is that it raises Odinga's profile during a time
that he was trying to obtain power in Kenya.

The President of Kenya at the time hates Odinga with a purple passion.
His row with Odinga turned the country into a virtual civil war before
the crisis was finally resolved. I'm sure he accused Odinga and
everyone even peripherally associated with him of a heck of a lot
worse than campaigning.
