I also have to admit to a certain squeamishness when I think about the specifics of gay marriage. Fortunately, as a thinking ape, I can reason past that and conclude it is deep-seated monkey-brain wiring by a heterosexual male, and apply logic to the situation. The golden rule, and "walk a mile in his shoes", and "live and let live" all come into play for me. When I turn the argument around, or when I try to explain to myself the reasons it isn't a good idea, I get lost, and realize that my own internal thoughts on the subject didn't hold water. If I then add in the humanity of the people involved, there no longer is a question for me. Commitment, love, equal rights, fairness.
