What is it that you're trying to decide:

(1.) Whether you agree with gay marriage as a concept that fits into
your morals, or

(2.) Whether the government should enforce someone's arbitrary moral
decisions?

If you're making a principled decision about governance then your
position is that a majority should be able "marginalize" a minority
(or vice versa) through law.

In other words, I should be able to pass a law to marginalize you
based on some arbitrary quality of your biology, i.e., my hitchhiker's
thumb example.

So is your question the principles of good governance and how they
apply to Gay Marriage, or is it whether you morally approve it?

In my opinion, of course, those 2 are mutually exclusive.
