Yeah I agree, however if you switch to ubuntu you will still have the same
problem as Windows Vista. In fact you will have a harder time switching it
off in there.

I thought you might be smart enough to switch your firewall on, when you
leave the office many don't though.

Our office firewall is tightly controlled and (relatively) safe. I turn on
the firewall outside the office, and I definitely have anti-virus software
installed.

As for UAC, we all got along without it prior to Vista, so that makes me a
little skeptical of putting up with its many intrusions, although it
certainly does make things safer. I'd switch my laptop to Ubuntu, but there
are still a handful of things I need Windows for at the moment. If I knew it
would work, I would switch to Ubuntu and run Vista in a virtual machine, but
I am not confident that the bits and pieces of the Tablet PC work in a VM,
at least not yet.
