It doesn't just feel warmer, it *is* warmer. I don't support emissions
reductions because I'm an altruistic tree-loving hippy. The world will
get along fine without us. Nope, I'm a self-centered arrogant bastard.
I'm accustomed to a certain climate on this planet and the climate for
the last couple thousand years has done pretty well by humans. I'd
rather like to see it continue that way. I don't want to give in to
"natural variations" if it means rapidly rising sea levels, expanded
desertification and vanishing forests. I don't want to see another ice
age either.

Whether climate change is primarily anthropogenic or primarily caused
by external factors (solar cycles, long term ocean cycles, whatever
your favorite explanation) the fact remains that the climate is
changing in ways which are not beneficial to our species and the way
we have set things up. It looks like we have options at our disposal
to help alleviate some of that change. So I think it behooves us to
take a broader view and take the measures necessary in order to try
and bring more of our own destiny under our control. If we put
measures in place to be able to strongly regulate humanities emissions
of CO2 (and related gasses) then we have a powerful tool at our
disposal. We can increase emissions in the future if we realize that
its prudent, we can decrease them further if we find that it is
prudent. Either way, we have more control than we have now.

Self-centered, self interested, me first, conservative thinking here.
Get what you can under control now, do it in a way that encourages
innovation in the marketplace, continue to explore our options.
