I think that you are asserting that Vista is not backwards compatible with
applications written for previous version of Windows.  I would agree with
that.

I prefer not to re-buy "compatible versions" of all my apps when I move to a
newer version of Windows.  I also don't want to have to fight the OS just to
make something run.  The main reason I haven't switched to Mac is that I
would have to buy all new replacements for all my software.  With this
version of Windows (Vista) I guess it's the same thing.

Microsoft is getting better and better at selling Macs.
