The trouble with that is that it is almost impossible to prove that a 
risk is real or not until after the fact.  But that is the most 
expensive, if not impossible, time to respond the the risk.  So what is 
so darned complicated about taking actions now, in case it turns out to 
be true.

Now you want to argue that some advocates have gone overboard and are 
talking too extreme of a response, there is plenty of room for 
discussion there.  But to just counter that with a blind, it's all fake, 
a hoax, wrong and do nothing seems to be swinging too far the other way 
to me.
