I think the net can deffinately provide a way for people to meet others. One
thing the net offers over a bar setting is that you can't actually see the
other person. That gives people a certain courage to be very open and honest
(sometimes too honest.) I'm sure we all know someone who knows someone who
met online and started out innocently but soon were in over their head
before they knew it.

Dave Barry has a great story about this in his CyberSpace book.

For once I think I agree with Larry :)  The internet is only a tool.
It's like saying that the bar is the equivalent of the internet.  Yes
you can pick up women on the internet just like you can at the bar.  But
if you are picking up women on the internet or at the bar, that signals
a greater underlying problem.

My point exactly Erika, if it were not the net, or EverQuest or politics

whatever, it would be something else. If the marriage is in trouble,
then
its not the internet or whatever, its the people involved. The web or
EverQuest or what have you is only an excuse. The time spent on those
decrease as the other problems are resolved.
