I met my wife online and have been happily married for 5 years and have a wonderful son. However I was not looking for a relationship when I met her. It was just coincidence. My point was that if you spend too much time doing anything, whether it is the internet or at the bar, it can be a strain. Especially, if you find yourself wanting to be there rather than spend time with your spouse.

One thing the net offers over a bar setting is that you can't actually see the other person. That gives people a certain courage to be very open and honest (sometimes too honest.) I'm sure we all know someone who knows someone who met online and started out innocently but soon were in over their head before they knew it. Dave Barry has a great story about this in his CyberSpace book. -----Original Message----- From: Kevin Schmidt [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, April 16, 2002 11:06 AM To: CF-Community Subject: RE: Internet cited as marriage wrecker For once I think I agree with Larry :) The internet is only a tool. It's like saying that the bar is the equivalent of the internet. Yes you can pick up women on the internet just like you can at the bar. But if you are picking up women on the internet or at the bar, that signals a greater underlying problem. -----Original Message----- From: Larry Lyons [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, April 16, 2002 10:03 AM To: CF-Community Subject: RE: Internet cited as marriage wrecker My point exactly Erika, if it were not the net, or EverQuest or politics or whatever, it would be something else. If the marriage is in trouble, then its not the internet or whatever, its the people involved. The web or EverQuest or what have you is only an excuse. The time spent on those decrease as the other problems are resolved. larry -- Larry C.
