I cant' tell you how many times I thought my ferrets were dead.

Louisal would be sleeping, and wouldn't wake up.  I would pick Louisal up,
shake her, flop her around and her little body remained lifeless.  In a
panic I would run to the kitchen, with her limp body flopping in my hand.  I
would open the refrigerator and take out a bit of meat, or cheese and
miraculously when the food was waved under her nose she awoke like nothing
ever happened.
