Haha I just did this at christmas to a bunch of "public" pc's at a school.. windows steadystate.. for pc's not on a domain.. locks em down so you can't save/change anything to c drive/registry anything and has a backup if someone hacks it, it defaults back on reboot.. I love it and the people hate me because they have to bring a usb drive to school with them now!

Colleges, libraries, etc can all just have dummy terminals where the user brings in their OS on a stick or disk. No need for expensive software or maintenance costs.
