Where are they today jim? I wouldn't say that m$ is in a very good place these days... Their OS is already being described as the biggest software trainwreck in history, I know you love it jim but the majority of the population HATES it with a passion I have never seen before but then again I'm sure you loved windows ME as well. And they think windoz 7 will be a big hit? If they want it to be a hit then they need to shut up about it being built on vista because if they haven't quite figured it out, people HATE VISTA. I honestly don't know even 1 person who has vista who likes it in anyway, shape or form, so why would m$ continue to link them together? The only things ppl seem to like about vista and windoz 7 is the "cool new features" what they copy off of os x and it is kinda funny how m$ is trying to make windoz an os x clone. I'm laughing at all the windoz ppl that make fun of os x features and then windows "borrows" them and suddenly they are great, lol. I can remember all the people squacking about how dumb the dock is and now windoz 7 has the dock and how cool it is now, pleazzzzzz. And Jim I saw how you were talking about the vista phot tool and how great it was. See now this is m$'s problem, they put crap like that on there and ppl like you think it's great so they keep doing it because they can get away with half-assing everything. That photo editor wouldn't have even been current in xp, hell my os x preview app has more power that that. And the red-eye tool, lol. Again this is a perfect example of how m$ thinks and solves problems. Ok so you got red eye and so m$'s solution is to draw a square around it to fix it. Ok so they want to use a square to fix a circle... typical m$ thinking. It will work most of the time but so they call it good and leave it. But it's not always going to work, at least use a damn circle to fix a circle, real rocket science their!! Now a current photo editor will fix red eye by selecting red eye tool which turns to an color picker and then you just click in the red of the eye which gives you about 99% more control and makes it easier to use on small images and makes it easier to control what gets changed, for example a keeping the red in the white of the eyes to show bloodshot eyes. But the point is that it like most all their apps is half-assed and not thought through properly. Their browser is still a joke & there are no excuses for it not be as good as firefox anymore. If legacy is an issue then they need to learn to just cut it off and not let people do it, they do that with things that make them $$ like the os, so why not everything. Windoz ppl get mad at apple for not letting old tech linger but by doing so relieves most all the issues and things work way better. Meanwhile the new web browser stats show ie loosing even more ground and at the current rate will no longer be the main browser in 3 years. Their recent marketing campaign was even a bigger flop than vista and I don't even see how that is possible but yet they did it. Their gaming machine I hear has cost some 7 billion plus and continues to have issues & even though it looses money they keep it to keep Sony from having the dominant console. Their "ipod killer" is on the verge being scrapped because no one wants it. The biggest spending quarter of the year was last quarter and zune sales were down 54% and they only made 21 million on it. It's been 3 years now since zune was launched and still there are more ipods sold per quarter than all the zunes combined for last 3 years. And then you have all the windoz users complaining about itunes drm and how apple is so wrong to do that. First off it isn't apple who wanted the drm, it was the record companies. Second the record companies wanted it because fuckin m$ made such a big deal of it to them about how they needed it. So next time you complain about it thank m$ not apple. And then.... m$ makes mp3 player companies use their "safePlayDisk" or whatever it was called and then m$ can't even get it to work on their own zune, lol. The only possible bright spot here is that MAYBE when zune tanks they will let you keep all the music if you are on the subscription plan but then again maybe not and then how much $$ will you have spent to get nothing? Their office app is ok but you don't hear much about it, this might be their lone bright spot but is loosing to open source. Their search engine is a complete joke and so shocking bad that they have to offer to pay people to use it, I mean come on now... pathetic. Their flash killer is being used on major sites for major events and then suddenly is removed after as the site goes back to flash which basically says that m$ is paying the sites to use it... Again pathetic Their spot an the fortunes most desirable company has been dropping like a rock, meanwhile Apple leads pretty much every thing anymore. And yes I know there are more pc users but even that is falling fast. If you figure that Apple has 10% market share (up from 3% 2 years ago) and that 50% of the windows shares are in enterprise which apple doesn't market to then simple math says that outside the enterprise that macs are around 20% or 1 in 5, which tells you that people have been giving up on m$ in huge numbers. M$ is not who they were, they have been sitting still thinking they will rule the world forever and now they are getting passed by. They don't innovate anything or bring anything new and worthwhile to the table, all they do is lag behind everyone and keep progress from taking hold. Say what you want about me being a apple fan boy but geez, if you can't see that Apple is rocking right now & m$ is in a nose dive then I feel for you. But on the bright side.... windoz 7 can only be an improvement but m$ needs to do the right thing and upgrade users who were conned into vista for free, since they are touting it as the fixed version of vista.
