When I went in 1992 it was still pretty much the same way. But the frat
houses...well...no one really paid attention to them.

when I was first in the dorms in 1967, they were strictly male-only or
female-only.

they had "visiting nights" but you had to keep your door open at least a
wastebasket width.
and the "dorm mother" and grad assistants patrolled the halls.

yeah, sure, people snuck their b/f or g/f in, but if you got caught you
could get in trouble.
mind you, this was at U.C. Berkeley !!
