I'm not that familiar with the medical marijuana laws in California. I
know that they have the grow clubs and such which we don't have here.
In Oregon you can grow for yourself or have a designated person grow
for you. I think that one person can be the designated grower for up
to like 5 people max but I don't recall. There was an issue for awhile
about people getting around the personal use levels by claiming
medical necessity. Some places allowed that, some didn't and it was
confusing, so they did a compromise change to the law and personal
use. Now medical card holders can have 6 mature plants, 18 immature
seedlings and 24 ounces of dried cannabis at any given time.

As for Bend, it's high desert. It is dry and warm in the summer with
highs in the 80's and 90's but low humidity. Winter time is cold and
often snowy with lows in the 10's and 20's. The Cascade mountains are
right there and they catch most of the moisture coming in from the
Pacific, leaving Bend relatively dry but drive 20 miles west into the
Cascades and it is much much wetter.
