not entirely ;-) > You don't sweat the trashing of the 4th Amendment, habeas corpus, > etc.. (Not that you were "down" with it, but I didn't see this > reaction for that stuff). Governing in a time of war is an exercise in pragmatism. Gitmo is still open, isn't it? Obama could close it tomorrow and order every person there transferred to a military or civilian prison in the United States. It's easy to bitch about the problem, but a lot harder to find a solution. > And you don't really care about money, eh? :-) > Not what I said. You have to care about money to some extent in a society where money is required to do almost anything. Either that or go live an an ashram. I'm in Encinitas right now, I guess I could check into the Self Realization Fellowship. \ http://www.encinitastemple.org/ I am not motivated primarily by money, otherwise I would have gone into investment banking or legal practice. My attitude is actually fairly normal. If you work in an organization with a good HR department, ask the HR Compensation folks about what motivates people in an organization. Money generally comes in about 3rd. > Whatever the outcome, I'm positive (and I avoid positivity-- well, you > know what I mean. ;]) we made the right choice with Obama. > We are where we are, no sense looking backwards now. > > It's fine that you're keeping an eye on him, as it were, but damn, is > he really that bad? Is he bad? No, he's a remarkable guy with a great personal story and the best intentions for the country. I just wish he wasn't poisoning the well from which he received so many blessings, but that's exactly what I think he is on the way to doing. He is gambling on a huge recovery two years from now and if it doesn't materialize his presidency will be a failure. > Are things really that bad? > > Sure things are bad-- but god damn, what's bad is the aforementioned > erosion of our core values-- the money comes from the core values, not > the other way around.
