Ireland is sectarian violence and they were able to come to a relative peace. A comparable situation would be Shia vs. Sunni violence, which is still going on all over the Muslim world. But sectarian violence is not rooted in the religious writings of the religions in question. Ireland was not because the Bible said stone someone. In addition, the violence in Ireland was based on a specific location, not on a global imperative. Violence using the Koran as a basis is global. It is not theoretical but actual. These people* are doing it because the Koran tells them to.
