Devilishly cynical! Although my take on this is that he has been sincerely shaken to the core. He's considered one of the top legal minds in the World (I think is THE most published) and has always been very conservative; i.e., he's a law prof at U of Chicago (as is his son Eric) and has always been a big "chicago school" guy. This book is definitely a defection for him. It's like Kmiec endorsing Obama. If Posner was purely concerned with book sales he could've written another defense-of-Bush book which, given the tea parties, people are clamoring for.
