You all remember Ryoga, the ferret of mine who was having the very
complicated adrenal cancer last summer. He gave us a bad a scare last night.
Around 9 pm, he began having seizures. We tried calling an emergency vet
that we had previously been to for our cat. Unfortunately their phone system
was set wrong, so we ended up driving to the clinic, about 20 miles away. We
get there only to discover that the clinic does not treat ferrets. We called
a second emergency clinic, nope they don't take in ferrets either.

So we ended up having to go to a third emergency clinic. It was a late
night. They tested his blood sugar as soon as we got there. His blood
glucose levels were very low, 36. So he got some iv glucose solution. He did
pretty good after that. We decided to leave him overnight at the clinic just
in case.

It ended up being an early morning too, I had to get up quite early to pick
Ryoga up from the emergency clinic and take him to his regular vet first
thing. I figure I've been on the road for about 3 hours or so in rush hour
traffic this morning. Traffic in this area sucks. Big time.

Looks like the ferret may have insulinoma - where his pancreas produces too
much insulin - opposite of diabetes. We'll find out more later on today. Not
something that needs be happening to him.

Thanks, just needed to vent a bit.
