He'll be fine. It was a scary incident, that I should have known better how to deal with, given my own experience with diabetes. The tech I talked with said he was enthusiastically eating the clinicare they were feeding him. Some ferrets have obsessions with things, his is eating this clinicare food. I honestly think that he'd probably crawl across a field of ground glass for the stuff.
