Well played Sir. I did not think you would catch it. Or rather I did
not think you wouldn't not catch it?

I really do think that the phrase "That does not mean that they are
inappropriate, however" is a much more descriptive phrase than "That
means they are appropriate".  In particular, we were discussing the
inappropriateness of double negatives. You could say were were
discussing the appropriateness of them but since the standard view is
that they are inappropriate I think we are really discussing their
inappropriateness, not their appropriateness. A subtle distinction to
be sure but one I feel is worthwhile.
