I have no idea how you use your vehicle, although I suspect if I were to
spend a year riding in the back of your suburban, I would be thinking "What
a waste of gas" most of the time. I am unsure why you care if I think your
usage of your car is "responsible" or not, but judging by your angry
reaction I have to guess that I would think it wasnt' responsible.

LOL, you know very little about my state. Nowhere does it snow all year
round. Even in Barrow (much further north than nome) there is a very nice
summer. In Anchorage our "break-up starts in April, with roads being
completely clear usually sometime during that month (this years its been
quite late) and the first snow is usually in the first part of October.

I actually mostly bike commute in summer to work and back, and to the dog
club. My car is used for shopping trips or the occasional night out. My
SUV isnt' nearly the size of yours, and my ego isn't caught up about it
either. Its dog eaten and dirty. Its just a vehicle, and is no reflection
on me.
