Cool rescue story. I'm hoping Skitz is as lucky. I have a friend that's big into dog rescue, and she found this guy at a kill shelter, nearing his end date. I haven't fostered before, but we recently lost our cat (RIP, Ratley), and we had told her that after he was gone, we'd consider fostering. This guy needed a home, so while we're kind of in the middle of a lot of stuff (training for a half Ironman, transitioning a foster kiddo, 2 out of town trips in the next 7 days, etc, etc.) we couldn't really say no.
We don't know much of his back story. He was found as a stray in Illinois. There's a network of pilots that will transport dogs, and my friend found one to fly him up here. Soon, he'll be posted on petfinder.com via a Brookfield shelter, and hopefully he'll find a forever home that's suited to him. He came without ANY manners, but since Monday he's already learned to "kennel" and is getting better about walking alongside us, and knows he's not to go upstairs, and mostly knows he's not supposed to get on the furniture, and he's only had 1 accident in the house. So, I think he's going to turn out to be a good dog for someone. He's just a little BIG for our house and tiny yard. (He's about 75 lbs or so, and skinny at that.) -d On Fri, Jun 19, 2009 at 7:44 AM, Gruss Gott wrote: > >> Deanna wrote: >> Yep, I know what happens.
