Here are my reasons for having SUVs: safety and of course towing boats,
trailors, hunting etc etc

Howard, you seem to be caught up in this "God damn long hairs tryin to
tell
me what to do, I'll show them" state of mind. It's not even about that.
Step
back from your preconceptions of our hidden motives to bring you down.
Try
not to imagine us eating tofu and polishing our sandals with hemp
leather
polish. Here's my only concern, all statistics aside: SUV's are machines
which burn a high amount of fossil fuels. I know that combusting fossil
fuels creates a stink (aka pollution) - power plants, semi-trucks,
airplanes, motorcycles, cars, trucks, SUV's - they all create a stink. A
large percentage of SUV drivers don't use them to go lay barbed wire
fencing
with the Dusty and Roy; they use them to commute alone, or to drive
little
Timmy to soccer practice. You are perfectly free to do this, but why
would
you want to waste more resources and create more smog for everyone else
to
deal with?

And to answer your question about appointed dictators over your life.
Why do
you think these people that feel so passionately about the environment
take
their battles to the government? Maybe because the people who poop all
over
the environment ("the enemy") are irrational, stubborn, ego-freaks that
say
things like "it'll be a cold day in hell before I listen to anything you
have to say"? How else can you deal with these people?

It's not being politically correct; it's using common sense and not
being a
wasteful person. That's all.

Adam.
