I've got a 12 speed Panasonic (1980) and an 18-speed Trek mountain bike. If I'm riding on pavement with medium-hard or less hills, it's always the 12-speed.
If I'm riding anywhere the rims can get bent (off road - really rough roads) or very long and steep Mt Hood-style hills I ride the mountain bike. I prefer the bent-over riding style of the 12-speed, rather than upright T-style handlebars of the mountain bike. Which kind of bike to buy may depend on the type and distance of riding. Jerry Johnson >>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 05/01/02 12:41PM >>> Just for argument's sake, I have a Schwinn 3-speed simple bike, for riding around town. I had a fairly nice 10-speed, but I always seemed to drop the chain off the gears on the back at the wrong time. I'm sure it's nothing a good tune-up by someone more bike-knowledgeable than me couldn't fix, but the 3-speed never has issues like that, and is comfortable as long as I'm not trying to pedal up a mountain. I don't even know if Schwinn has something like that any more, but I'm sure someone does. j -----Original Message----- From: fluffy bananachunks [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, May 01, 2002 12:39 PM To: CF-Community Subject: Re: New topic - bike Beth F wrote: >to run to the store that might be overkill! > >----- Original Message ----- >From: "fluffy bananachunks" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Sent: Wednesday, May 01, 2002 8:19 AM >Subject: Re: New topic - bike > > > > >>28 speed full XTR, with 8" of travel both front and rear; Hayes >>Hydraulic discs both end!!! >> >>Yeeeah, baby...!!!! >> >>;P >> >>Geo >> >> >> oh, bad damn! poppin of fire hydrants and cars and small animals on the way would be oh so much fun!!! ;P Geo ______________________________________________________________________ Your ad could be here.
