Of course, if you choose an alternative religion to Christianity ...
or no religion at all, then the baptism would've had no meaning for
you anyway.

That's the silly thing about it all.  being baptized doesn't make you
a Christian.  Believing makes you a Christian.  So to truly be
"un-baptized" you simply just have to not believe.

If you believe, and you have your child baptized, all the ceremony
really does is place the child under God's protection, and commits the
church to helping the child grow in his or her faith.

Confirmation, on the other hand... is a whole different beast (if
you'll pardon my use of the term "beast" in a religious discussion)
