YES. Many times, I would imagine. Because often times what the child sees as
"suffering", is actually learning, or what is best for them.  When I give my
son his relfux medicine he SCREAMS...he's quite sure he's suffering....but I
know it's best for him in a way that he couldn't possibly understand yet.

In a similar fashion, many religious people believe that what we view as
"suffering" here on earth is actually just part of "God's plan"....and there
is some greater meaning to it, a meaning that we cannot as of yet fathom.
That's what people mean when they say they are "putting their faith in God's
plan."

This is also the customary answer to that famous question "Why do bad things
happen to good people?" Answer: "We don't know, but God does".
