It depends on your skill set. If you just want to be a code monkey and write code and get paid, stick with a regular job. The decent money is made in consulting with companies that have no idea what they want or how to do what they want. In those cases, your real value comes out in helping them to formulate a solution to their problems (using tools you're familiar and comfortable with, of course). At that point, you can build it for them yourself and get paid, or fish the actual code out to someone less savvy than you (i.e. the cut-rate coders in India or wherever). If you can get involved with a company that is just getting started and they have good ideas then you may even be able to work out an equity share. If you're architecting solutions and helping them define what they actually need you can do pretty well for yourself and not spend every waking moment writing code. -Justin Scott ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Want to reach the ColdFusion community with something they want?
