It really depends on where you're talking about. From reading the
article it sounds like the person was being quite obnoxious to the
border guard. If that is the case I don't blame the guard from doing
some push back.

I cross the border into Canada anywhere from 3 or 4 times a year, some
years every couple of months or so. I've seen border guards have to
handle screaming nut cases who wanted to excercise their "Gawd Gibben
Riiiwt to have GUNS" and take their assault rifles into Canada in
their RV's. The guards have remained polite but firm. So arguing that
the reporter was treated that way because she is on the left is a red
herring. As far as I can see her political orientation is irrelevant.
As for Rush Limpblob, yes he would have received the same treatment,
if anything it would have been worse. Canada has some hate speech laws
that would have applied to him that would have denied him entry to
Canada. Same with Glenn Beck and Laura Ingram.

That some obnoxious reporter decided to go out of her way to piss off
the guard, really speaks volumes on how tolerant the guards are. If it
had been me, she would have been hauled off, and have her and her car
stripped searched. Then she would have been refused entry. Finally she
would have been required to put her own car back together.

Instead she was briefly questioned and allowed to drive on. Some
draconian behavior. I'm willing to bet that the guard told her to
"Have a nice day, Eh." According to the laws related to border
crossing, Canada Border Services Agency personnel can refuse entry for
any reason or none at all.

To me it still sounds like a petulant child not getter her way and
having her temper tantrum in print.
