No, but I will say it does help a non-guitar person to start LISTENING to the guitar parts of a song.
Before starting to play these, I never could really tell the guitar from the bass from anything else. Trumpets I could hear clearly. lol. I also enjoyed Giles Martin's take when talking about the Beatles Rock Band. (warning, it was part of a marketing interview on the launch of the game, so take that with a whole bunch of salt). *Martin:* I'd played these type of video games. I'd always kind of slightly looked down my nose at them, because if you played guitars and bass anyway you'd think "Why'd I want to play a plastic instrument?" They had sent me a copy of "Rockband," their main video game, and an Xbox and I had it sort of in my back room for a long time and some friends came for dinner. I said I have this video game do you want to play it? And we gathered around and played "Living on a Prayer," you know by Bon Jovi and stuff like that, I really got into it and it kind of swayed me. And then I went up to LA and someone came up to me and said, "You know my son loves these video games, they got desperately into Poison" and you know these bands from the '80s and '90s? I thought you know, it's the only way that a lot of kids will listen to music and really get into it and so I was swayed I know that I personally am glad that the kids are playing the "oldies" (classic rock), rather than Brittney and The Naked Brothers.
