Sounds like the real problem is the Leno show at 10, assuming that the Conan show can recover within that year break in period. I mean the NBC execs are free to do as they please, but Jay gave up that slot years ago. Conan signed a contact to take it years ago. For the time being it's Conan's in my mind.
I think it's tough for Jay to take that slot back - he could try many many other things.
