Most of the reviews I have read tend to indicate that SSD drives have write speeds that are roughly comparable with HDD, but that read times and battery drain (life) are better with SSD. Particularly in startup times for applications and random reads you see the biggest improvements. Most of the reviews I have read or could find are from 2008 though, when they first came out. Since then prices have dropped, and I am going to have to assume performance is at least the same, if not better. As far as the cost being worth the performance improvement, that's really a call you have to make for yourself. I sit waiting for apps to load and for my computer to restart for HOURS every week. Definitely worth it to me if I can trim that down significantly. Any upgrade that increases my productivity enough to pay for itself is worth it. In this case, it does. For me anyway - YMMV. -Cameron ... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Want to reach the ColdFusion community with something they want?
