Try what Paul recommended and if that doesn't work I really would
still say you are much better off developing locally. Accessing
shared files over a network can be slow, for a number of reasons.
Especially if DW is touching alot of files to prepare for design view
or something.

As far as having CF and SQL Server installed on your local desktop,
even if you don't do it now I'd still suggest you keep that in mind as
an option in the long run. They don't have to be running unless you
are using them. I install CF as a multiserver enterprise and only
start the instances I need. I have 10 or so instances, CF7/CF8/CF9
instance, some are configured for specific clients. Nothing starts
by default, so it's pretty much the same as not having them installed
at all. Really has no impact on performance at all for me.

Another option, since you have spent tons of money and don't want to
feel like it was a waste, would be to dedicate a machine to gaming
entirely and do development entirely on the other machine. KVM
switches can be got fairly cheap.

Lastly, in the every long run you could consider running virtual
machines and then you could have a whole Windows environment for
development and one for gaming, though I suspect gaming performance
might suffer.
