Death Knights start at 50 but you need to have at least one lvl 50 character to make one (to clarify)...you aren't converting a current character to one or anything like that...the story line in the lead up is pretty awesome. They are what is called a heroic class. One of the downsides is that all the professions start out at 0 so you have a hard time leveling them in that regard. But they are really cool :-D
As far as soloing, while hunters are good (one of my favorite classes)...so are the other classes ;-) Warriors, Paladins, and when you can, Death Knights can solo high level bad guys because of their superior armor and weaponry. Druids are pretty good multipurpose characters and when they get to higher levels, can do a lot of damage via their animal forms. Rogues can be pretty potent for soloing with their special attacks. But you choice should be more centered on what you want to play...have fun and ignore the gear heads hehehehe. I think that one of the things that ruins the game are people that get too serious about gear and abilities and don't just play to have fun...like it is some sort of competitive sport. If you get stuck, there are some online databases. My favorite is thottbot.com wowhead.com is another good one. You can also install addons to help manage things and make tasks easier. Check out curse.com. They have a client you can download to help manage your addons and keep them updated. I would strongly suggest getting auctioneer. It's helps you play the in game auction house and maximize the money you can make for your character. There are also other cool addons, if you want a list of essentials, let me know. You can try a Dranei Hunter. Their story area is one of the newer ones. Night Elves are fine as well. With the Hunter you should be able to solo most of your missions and quests, including those that require a 3 man group (with some difficulty). It's also great fun choosing your Pet and developing it as you level up through the game. Planning on what pet to get, then traveling to the area to tame it is fun. When you hit Level 50...make a Death Knight. The starting area alone is awesome and worth it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Want to reach the ColdFusion community with something they want?
