Did you ever see "Rick" demonstrate his "hacker" abilities? Sounds like he
was trying to use coersion to get people to stick with him, sort of like a 6
year old might ('If you don't play my game, I won't be your friend
anymore')...don't know the actual correct legal term for it...not a
law-talkin'-guy...Talk to a lawyer.
Unfortunately he makes a good point here:

Perhaps with a lawyer...Also, if you filed taxes based on the W-2, a payment
from "Rick" could cause IRS problems down the road for you. Talk to a tax
attorney (use words like hypothetically, they like that...).
Chalk it up to experience and invest in a good firewall, then go talk to a
lawyer about remedies, my guess is that you'll probably be told that there's
nothing to be done. Or that pursuing this could cost more than your gain.
