You have my deepest empathy, my friend. Hospice is not a fun choice, but it is a very compassionate choice. They are well trained in palliative care and since they aren't trying to "fix" anything, all their time and attention can go to making sure he is comfortable and in as little pain as possible. The hospice facility that my mother was in was really great and I feel blessed that the experience of going through the last days of her life there were so positive.
