My sons manage to pick up a bad piece of malware on the Windows XP desktop they use. As best as I can tell so far, it is just a very agressive piece of Virus Scareware. Generating popups from the 'notification area,' aka the 'system tray,' that my computer is infected (which it is, by this piece of malware) and trying hard to get me to buy some piece of crapware that will make my computer "safe".
This is a pretty nasty piece code since it is activily blocking all programs that I could use to remove it. It stopps my Macafee virus scanner, my 'Task Manager', and even my SysInternals Process Explorer, saying each of these executable files are 'infected'. Any suggestions on steps or tools I can take to eliminate this piece of junk? I'm presuming I am going to have to start in Safe Mode and run some tools to find and remove it. I'm hoping I can stop short of a disk wipe and re-install. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology-Michael-Dinowitz/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:319561 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm
