Have you tried one of the online AV progs like at norton or antivirus.com?
Both would also have instructions as to how to remove it.

I don't have the name of it at hand at the moment. It is 7:30 am here
and I have just started my work day. I'll have to check when I get home
in 8 1/2 hours.

When my boys told me about the pop-ups they where getting a few minutes
before bed time last night; I just tried a few things: running the virus
scanner, task manager and process explorer. When those where blocked, I
turned off the computer and told the boys not to use it until I get home
today when I have more time to deal with it.
