So...Opium should be legalised just as it was previously.
When it was legal there was none of these problems.

My post was more in relation to European, US and other Foreign
multinationals setting up shop in Afghanistan to mine these areas.
I would be interested in seeing a map of the current distribution of US
bases in Afghanistan in comparison to the location of these mineral rich
areas.

Because the people are unable to mine these minerals for themselves, does
not mean they will not be mined. BP, Exxon,Shell et al operate in oil rich
areas
where the indigenous population do not have the expertise to extract oil
themselves.
